GreenT creates original, alternative T-shirts using Asian pop cultural themes. GreenT was created by Stephanie Dere, in April 2004. After seeing the types of 'Asian' themed shirts major clothing companies were designing, she decided to create 'Asian' shirts of her own - without all the won tons and ching-chong font. Her illustrative style utilizes iconic and anime influences to express positive imagery towards the Asian community. Steph's concern for the environment and community also plays a part in GreenT. 10% of GreenT's profits go to non-profit and environmental organizations.
Each T-shirt gives 10% of its profits to a specific organization, such as: Asian Women's Shelter or World Wildlife Federation (WWF)**, every quarter in an effort to speed their causes a little faster. Whether it's environmental groups, health related, or community centered, people will feel good knowing their purchase is helping to make the world a better place. The more shirts you buy from us, the more money gets donated to these organizations!
If you delve into the intricacies of our name more closely, GreenT encompasses a lot of what we stand for: Asian awareness, our 'green' earth, and "T" for shirts (I pretty much wear T's ALL the time). Also stands for the general well-being of the world, including happiness for all people and critters. I hope to expand the designs to include more 'green' wear and other issues in the future, so come back often to see what we're up to!
